Fortunately for Chula Vista, not only did they beat Castle Park but they dominated the South Bay for the next 10 years and even now they continue to outrank Castle Park competition after competition. Still, music in the South Bay is starting to slip a little. Bands are far smaller than I remember. Whether that's a lack of interest in band itself, conflict with a director's teaching style or personality, or just an overall lack in music courses doesn't matter. The point is that I encourage all of you to go out and support your local high school bands. Whether you graduated from Chula Vista, Eastlake, Rancho Bernardo or somewhere outside of San Diego, SUPPORT HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS!

Oh and Eric Mabrey? Yeah he's now moved on to Olympian High School in Chula Vista, CA. It's a very new school with only freshmen and sophomores this year. They'll be adding a Junior and then Senior class soon and I they just won Sweepstakes in Escondido so watch out. There is going to be some competition soon!
